To experience for relaxing eternal wetland with canoe
In this area, some rich wetlands spread out including Kushiro wetland, Bekanbetsu wetland and Kiritappu wetland. A lot of wild animals inhabit these wetlands such as Japanese red-crowned crane called “the god of wetland”, white-tailed eagle and ezo-deer. It’s recommended relaxing and feeling the great outdoors of wetland with canoe.

細岡展望台
釧路湿原を見渡す展望台はいくつかありますが、釧路湿原全体を一望することができるのはここ。眼前に大きく蛇行する釧路川と遠くに雌阿寒岳や雄阿寒岳のシルエットが広がり、晴れた日の眺望もいいですが、ぜひ夕日と共に見てみてはいかがでしょうか。近くには細岡ビジターズラウンジがあり、休憩をすることができます。

Hosooka observatory
There are some observatories to survey Kushiro wetland, but you can get a full view of Kushiro wetland from here, Hosooka observatory. It’s good view in sunny day spreading Kushiro River in front of you and the silhouette of Mt. Meakan and Mt. Oakan. We recommend you to see beautiful scenery with the sunset. There is a lounge nearby there to rest.

このエリアの美食といえば、何をおいても『厚岸のカキ』。道の駅「厚岸グルメパーク」には、和食から洋食までバラエティ豊かなメニューがそろうレストラン「エスカル」、セルフでバーベキューを楽しめる「炭焼あぶりや」、厚岸産のウイスキーと合わせて楽しめる「オイスターバールピトレスク」など、さまざまな趣向で味わうことができます。

Akkeshi’s oyster
Speaking of the gourmet in this area, “Akkeshi’s oyster” is the most famous and delicious. In road station “Akkeshi Gourmet Park”, they have the restaurant “Esukaru” that you eat from Japanese meal to Western food, “Sumiyaki-Aburuya” for enjoying barbecue with local seafood and “Oyster bar Pitoresuku” to eat oysters with the whisky of Akkeshi. You can try various tastes.
